On July 9, 2026, the latest data released by the ESI database showed that among the 10,428 institutions worldwide included in the ESI rankings, Capital Medical University (CMU) ranked 253rd, up five places from 258th in May 2026. Meanwhile, CMU ranked 36th among the 943 Chinese mainland institutions on the list, and 2nd among the 98 independent medical institutions on the Chinese mainland (see Table 1).

Currently, CMU has 15 disciplines ranked among the global top 1% in ESI: Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Neuroscience & Behavior, Immunology, Biology & Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Microbiology, Social Sciences General, Psychiatry & Psychology, Environment & Ecology, Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, and Computer Science. Among them, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Neuroscience & Behavior, and Immunology are ranked within the global top 1‰; Immunology became CMU's fourth discipline to enter the ESI global top 1‰ since September 2023. Biology & Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Microbiology, Social Sciences General, and Psychiatry & Psychology are ranked between the global top 1‰ and 3‰; Environment & Ecology, Materials Science, and Chemistry are ranked around the global top 5‰ (see Table 2).

In this period, 13 of CMU's ESI disciplines saw their global rankings rise compared to May 2026, while 2 disciplines remained steady. Among them, Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, Materials Science, Microbiology, and Social Sciences General made the most significant progress.
